Four Simple Ways To Show Love To Your Family Members - Colourful Teaching For You

This is the month of LOVE!

I know that it’s Valentine’s Day on February 14th, but I don’t like focusing so heavily on this day because we invest so much of time and effort into celebrating it once a year but forget about the rest of the month or year. So that we’re not focused on only one day, I’m inviting you to take on a challenge with me. I’m calling it the 3 Week Love Challenge. It’s all about demonstrating love to those around us.

For this first week’s challenge, I want you to focus on one family member. If you aren’t close to your family or you don’t know much about them, I’d like to you think about your chosen family members. Often times, even though we are born into a family, we also have people who we are really close to who we consider as mom, dad, brother, sister and so forth.

I’d like to take a moment to focus on one of those family members and really show them, this entire week, that you love them.

We’re starting with our families because they are our support system. We depend on them for unconditional love and support and hopefully, we provide them in kind.

How can you do this? The following are different gifts that I am coining as Affinities of the Heart technique that you can give to your loved ones.

1. Notes From The Heart

Send that person a thank you card telling them how much you appreciate them. Better yet, go beyond that and tell that person why you appreciate them. What exactly have they done for you? How have they impacted your life?

Many times we talk about everything that we do, but not about the impact that others have on us and others. Therefore, I would even take this a step further and write about how their presentence has impacted the world or the people around them. It shows them how meaningful their life and presence in this world is.

For those of you who are brave enough, let’s take this a step further with the following:

2. Spoken From The Heart

Verbalize how you feel instead of writing it out. There are lot of people who prefer the spoken word over the written word so do what’s best for you and your chosen family member so that it’s not too awkward.

3. Combos From The Heart

For my daring friends, take parts one and two and combine them together for a truly special gift from the heart. Again, keep your family member in mind and note what feel comfortable for both of you.

4. Special Time From The Heart

One of the most important things that you can do, is to spend time with them. This can done using an online application if you don’t live with the person. I prefer that you find a safe way to meet but spending time with one another is the best way to show them that you care because you are demonstrating that you are there for them no matter what.

Final Thoughts

I’ll be joining you on this journey as well. I’ve always made a concerted effort to spend time with my mother but I am not one for using my words to express my feelings. Therefore, even though I’m not quite ready to vocalize my feelings, this week, I am going to spend some time writing a special note from the heart for her as she is the most beautiful woman in this world to me.

So there you have it, my friends. These are my top 4 tips for showing a family member you care about them.
