Today we’re going to talk about three ways to practice self-love with anxiety.
During times of high stress and anxiety, you’re mind more than likely, is surrounded by negativity. During times like this, it’s not always easy to put yourself first, let alone focus on loving yourself.
However, when you switch your focus to doing this, it decreases anxiety levels, increases motivation and satisfaction, and develops your health and personal abilities.
Essentially, self-love is about embracing your own happiness and well-being. When you start to focus on this, you learn how to put yourself and your needs first. You’ll begin to understand what you deserve and won’t settle for less.
Knowing how beneficial self-love is, here are three steps to help us get started:
Actionable Steps:
#1. Sleep It Off
I know I know! Teachers don’t have time to sleep.
My friend, say no to everything and spend some time catching up on your sleep. When you feel anxious, your productivity and patience will start to diminish.
If you’re anxious, sleeping may be difficult, so I encourage you to do something that relaxes you or changes your focus. For instance, I like to watch cartoons or science fiction movies before bed so that I can get lost in a different world and not focus on my worries.
#2. Do Your Thing
Find your passion. Figure out what it is and immerse yourself in it. When you have something to look forward to, it will help alleviate your stress and anxiety.
Don’t just do it once, continue doing it. In fact, schedule it in so that you can block off that time for yourself.
#3. Develop Connections
Reach out to your friends and connect with them. If you’re struggling, don’t do it alone. Contact your friends. They’ll be able to help you.
Additionally, meeting with friends will show you that you are worth being loved. It will also give you a chance to laugh and enjoy your time, thereby reducing your stress levels.
