Summer is finally here! With summer break on the horizon and the beautiful weather out there, your children are probably bursting with energy and joy. There’s no way that you’re going to get them to sit still and learn, so let them have fun while learning with these simple summer activities that are on a budget. Exciting, right? It means that you don’t have to break the bank but can have your language arts and art units planned for the next couple of weeks.

The following summer activities can be done either indoors or outdoors.

I’ve kept this article short in case you’re in the midst of planning for the rest of the school term but desperately wanting to get out and enjoy the sun yourself. Each of the activities already come with an instructions guide, so we won’t get into it here.

Check out the following list that you can do with your kids right away.

Actionable Steps:

#1. Play Games

Let’s have some fun! No- It’s not just random fun, but educational fun. Work on summer sight words while giving your students a challenge to engage in. For these activities, you can have a game where everyone wins or where one child wins. This depends on you and your students.

If you want both of the above resources, don’t buy them individually. Instead, save by getting the following resource and let the fun begin.

#2. Be Artsy

Let your students enjoy being creative while basking in the sun. I love taking my students out to color and draw using the following activities. It will get them thinking, talking and having a blast. You only need to do one art activity per day.

3. Engage in Writing

We can’t engage in art and games all day long because we have to do some work, especially literacy development in the form of writing. You may say- why? Because admin and parents will wonder what’s going on in your class.

Does writing have to be boring? Heck no!

Download the following resource, print them and hand them out to your students. Have a whole class brainstorming session about each of the questions- you only need to have your students answer one page a day. After, have your students work on it individually or on in small groups, and then have them come back for a classroom discussion.

4. Save Big

If all or most of the aforementioned activities sound like fun to you, don’t get them individually, but save big by getting these and other resources by CLICKING HERE or on the following image. This resource will have you planned and your students engaged for the next couple of weeks before school ends for the break.

According to Ginna, “This was a beneficial resource to my students. It had great information and visual appeal. Was user friendly.”
